Maybe. Wasn't expecting I'd have to teach anybody anything myself... but if you want to learn, I wouldn't mind.

Me neither. As it is, it's nothing serious. Just got myself pretty badly banged up, sick, but otherwise I'm in good hands.

You do? Interesting. I knew someone who was here before and didn't remember it when he came back. You said you were sent home... How well do you remember that?

Learning it appears to be rather necessary to my job.

I remember going home equally well, for the most part at least. There are some hours I spent in a fever that I do not recollect much of.

If you were expecting that I should have learnt any great secrets, you will be disappointed. I was returned to my life exactly where I left it, and after some time I was taken away again. That is all.

Long as I've got something to teach, I don't see why not.

I wasn't expecting anything. I just don't think I'll figure out how that works - how people can just leave for awhile and then come back.

I suppose it is the same way we come in the first place, though I do not pretend to have any understanding of the reason why it happens.

No problem. I've got lots of time around here, anyway.

Can't say that I understand it much more than you do, if it makes you feel any better. If someone ever asked me to fix a car or splice film reels or repair their air conditioner, I could do those things in record time. But I can barely figure out how to make my communicator function, let alone wrap my head around how those jump things work.

I do not even know what any of those things are. I have learned to use this communicator device but it seems a ridiculous way to communicate when it would be simpler to use paper and pen. Or to speak directly to a person, but it hardly seems that anyone does so. I do not see people call on one another, or gather together except in times of danger.

Pen and paper requires more time and resources, and we don't really have an effective postal service here to make it work. Not that it makes me any more comfortable with the technology here - if I need to talk to someone, I usually check to see if they're home first.

What kind of gathering do you mean?

It would be a simple thing to engage a postman. [ The rest makes sense, though, despite Mattie's preferences. ]

Any kind of gathering. Like a dance, or a singalong.

If somebody here had the time and was willing to take the job, then sure.

["Well, if Howard were around..." Murphy thinks, but isn't sure what he'd actually make of the postman from Silent Hill showing up around these parts.]

Walked into what looked like someone's birthday party once. Didn't stick around, though. But I know there are a few who have that idea.
