Throughout Silent Hill: Downpour, Murphy will write down certain things in his journal pertaining to the events in the game.
Objectives
Get back to the highway
Found the highway. Looks like one hell of a storm came through. No wonder we crashed. Need to find a ride out of here. Maybe boost a car in town...?
----
Find a way out of the area
Maybe this sky tram can take me into town. Maybe I can find a ride there, get to the border before anyone knows I'm missing. But where the hell do I find a ticket?
----
Find the missing ticket machine
Someone moved the damn ticket machine. Going to look for it. If I can get a ticket to the sky tram, maybe I can finally put some distance between myself and the crash site.
----
Obtain a ticket to get to Devil's Pit
Maybe the sky tram can take me into town. Maybe I can find a ride there, get to the border before anyone knows I'm missing. But where the hell do I find a ticket...?
----
Change into new clothes
Got to find some new clothes, keep a low profile. Can't keep wandering around with an inmate number scrawled across my back. Need to feel human again...
----
Find an alternate route down
Bridge is out - almost killed me. This whole place is falling apart (how long has it been since it was open?). Need to find another way around. Hope the train still works...
----
Find a way into town
Feels like I'm losing my mind. WHAT THE HELL WERE THOSE THINGS!? That postman said I could find a way into town from here. Was he lying to me?
----
Follow the path down to the train
Something's definitely not right here. Am I going crazy? Is this really happening? Sater said the train is my ticket into town. Need to find it and get out of here.
----
Make the reflections tell the truth
This mirror...there's something wrong with it. Is it just me, or is the reflection slightly different from the actual room...?
----
Escape from Silent Hill
Made it to Silent Hill. Seems...quiet. (Where IS everyone?) Need to find a way out of town and never, ever look back.
----
Set all of the birds free
Someone abandoned their bird. Poor thing will die in there without anyone to feed it, so I set it free. Felt good. I know how he feels...
----
Find the missing paintings
Found something strange at the art gallery. The curator found a hidden map in a series of paintings. If I find the missing paintings, I can complete the map... but to what?
----
Stop the patrol cars
Police cars everywhere. They don't look like normal cops. Something's very wrong here... What kind of town is this?
Find the police patrol dispatcher
If the town is deserted, who's dispatching the patrol cars?
Identify each patrol car's call number
If I can find each car's number, maybe I can call them off their patrol route...
----
Return the stolen items to their rightful owners
The thief stole these people's things. Maybe I can set things right by returning them to the rightful owners?
----
Find a way to the Radio station
Howard said the radio station is in a tall building in the center of town with a big clock. Need to find that DJ, get some answers. How does he know my name?
----
Inquire at the monastery
Howard gave me a letter, said I'm needed at the monastery on the hill overlooking the town. I'm sure it's some kind of trap. This town...it wants to destroy me, doesn't it? Still...I feel like I need answers.
----
WHAT'S YOUR SIGN?
Found a map of the town. Seems to correspond to the shadow symbols...
----
Fix the projector
I used to work in a movie theater just like this as a kid. Looks like the projector just needs a new bulb...
Play a film
I wonder what's playing tonight?
Examine the screen
The film...it looks too lifelike. It's as if I could reach out and touch it...
Open the attic trunk
I wonder what's inside the trunk? I need to find the key and check it out...
----
Scatter their ashes at their special place
Too sad. Someone should scatter their ashes at their favorite spot. But where...?
----
Find food for the beggar
Met a homeless guy, Homer, said he can show me a shortcut around town if I bring him something to eat. What could it hurt...?
Find a warm coat for the beggar
Fed Homer what I could find. Promised he'd show me another shortcut if I could find him some warm clothes.
Find a fishing rod for the beggar
Homer needs a fishing pole to feed himself. Said if I bring him one, he'll show me another shortcut. Will keep an eye out...
----
Find the missing girl
Another lost child. Looks like this one suffers from autism. Not good. That kid needs help. I should try to find her, bring her home before she gets hurt. It's not safe here.
Follow the girl's trail home
The girl's mother used colored ribbons to guide her daughter home from school. If I follow them, maybe I can find out what happened to her.
Find the girl's home
Found the girl's medical bracelet at the end of a broken pier. I fear the worst. Her address is somewhere on Lamon Street.
----

Found an old gramophone like my grandma used to have. Wonder if it still works...?
Find the record
I can't try out the gramophone without a record to play.
Put the victim's spirits to rest
Something terrible happened here. The murderer must pay for what he's done. It's the only way to put their souls to rest. If I help them, maybe then I'll be allowed to leave...?
----
Find all of the hidden treasures
Found a strange little trinket buried in a shallow hole with a birthday candle. Weird. Someone's idea of a joke? Wonder if there's more of them...
----
Find the missing paintings
Found something strange at the art gallery. The curator found a hidden map in a series of nine paintings. If I find the missing paintings, I can complete the map... but to what?
----

Found another prisoner. Something tore out his heart...so why can I still hear it beating?
----
Learn the Boogeyman Rhyme
Met a strange kid on the way to the morgue. Gate is locked, but the boy will let me through if I can recite a rhyme. He called me a monster. Need to find that rhyme, prove otherwise...
----
OVERLOOK PENITENTIARY
NO! This can't be happening. I was out. I was FREE. Why am I inside again? This isn't Ryall, or even Wayside. What more does it want from me? I won't let it break me. MUST. GET. OUT.

Postman
Something tells me this guy is somehow more than just an ordinary postman. The way he talks, the way he moves... I mean... he's way too relaxed for this ridiculous place. He's at home here, alright. I still can't figure out whether I should fear him or trust him, but still... he's the closest thing to what I would call a responsible person around here.
Carol
You used to be my lover, my best friend, my wife. I've never truly understood how you could have forgiven me for all the things I did in my life before we met and even after. How you came to know me, see me for what I am and love me. Now I need your forgiveness more than ever as I can't forgive myself.
Napier
Do I feel sorry for him, for what I've done to him? I keep telling myself that he deserved what he got but... the sounds he made... all that blood... the face of absolute terror. Disbelief turned into the understanding of inevitability... all by my own hands... May God forgive me!
Sewell
I thought you be one of those okay guards, the ones who play by the rules - a proper bastard but fair - but you just love to play those games of yours, don't you? Offering a deal that is hard to decline. Well... I couldn't.
Murphy
It's me. It's always been me, my own worst enemy, the one who always screws up and lets other down. I've tried so many times to start over and find my way to peace, but then... Back in the can the Chaplain told me that I should not punish myself, but it's the only thing I've got left under my control. Maybe this horrible place is exactly where I've been heading all these years.
Cunningham
Why is she so angry with me? She's not the abusive guard type who is turned on by bullying inmates. No, she doesn't enjoy it at all, and yet no guard has ever pointed a gun at me the way she did.
Frank
What was it you saw in me? What's the point in helping just another screw up - constantly dismissed even by his loved ones - and yet you somehow found a reason to believe in me. Well, you shouldn't have done that, my friend. People believing in me tend to end up badly.
DJ Ricks
I don't know what his story was, but I am certain as hell he did not fit this place any more than I do. He knew things and his plan sounded solid, but in the end that narrow margin between knowing and doing, that little bit of courage to do things on your own, he lacked. That was what buried him here forever.
A Nun
I have never really understood this concept of self sacrifice, to give up your own life and the chance to have your own family for the sake of serving others. But back in the orphanage we were all grateful as hell that those women chose to be teachers, nurses and yes, even true mothers to us.
A Boy
I wonder if the pain of losing you might ever become at least bearable. They say time heals all wounds and life goes on no matter what losses we've suffered, but for me the world stopped the moment your smile left it forever.
JP Sater
I can't get out of my head what he told me just before he jumped. It sounded like an apology and an accusation at the same time, but just a little bit underneath I wonder... did he even pity me?
